If your family is like mine, the Church calendar gets a little slippery about now. Easter Sunday was several weeks ago. The Ascension is on May 29, or is that the Assumption? I always get those two mixed up. What seems to be the “main events” of the liturgical calendar are now behind us, so we lose track. Here are three ways for you and your family to stay connected to the Church through the spring and summer.

St. Isidore the Farmer
St. Isidore was a Spanish laboring man. Born near Madrid, around 1070, he lived there until his death, May 15,1130. He served on the farm of a Juan de Vargas. Each morning before going to work he attended Mass in one of the churches in Madrid.
St. Matthias
St. Matthias is the apostle chosen to replace Judas Iscariot. Little is known of his missionary activity, but tradition states that he preached in Judea. He is credited with a Gospel and other discourses that have not been historically confirmed. His feast day is May 14.

May is a month that is filled with momentous occasions. There are first Communions and confirmations. You might also have a wedding or a baptism in your family. These events are all sacraments. But do you realize that some of the more ordinary activities in our lives also allow us to experience God’s grace, too?
